We need your support! Testify this Saturday to support SB 144 to expand access to CTE programs in Nevada schools

Legislative session is racing towards the finish line. With only a few weeks left, we are thrilled that SB 144 will be heard this Saturday, May 20th, in the Senate Finance committee. 

Educate Nevada Now has been proud to champion  SB144, a bipartisan bill that provides tax credits to businesses who donate to Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs in Nevada public schools.Currently, businesses can receive a tax credit for donating to private schools, but there is no tax credit to support traditional public schools or charter schools. This bill draws inspiration from successful tax credit programs in other states. It creates a path for supporting public schools by allowing the business community to directly invest in a quality workforce to support their industries and diversify our economy. Students will have more access to CTE programs that teach them the skills to prepare for college or their future careers or college. 

Did you know?

• Students that concentrate in a CTE program are more likely to graduate high school.

• One of the biggest obstacles to Nevada’s economic development is the lack of a qualified workforce.

• CTE concentrators are more likely to maintain employment and earn more.

• Vulnerable students participating in CTE programs report greater engagement in their schools (ie. improved attendance).
