After lot’s of waiting and wondering, we finally got confirmation of a hearing on the Voucher Bill SB506 – and it’s tonight!
Yes, we know it’s Memorial Day and it’s super last minute, but we need everyone to put down their hot dog and ditch the potato salad to head over to the Grant Sawyer Bldg. or the Legislative Bldg. at 6 p.m. and defend our students’ public dollars from going to private schools.
This week we celebrate teachers across the country during Teacher Appreciation Week. Educate Nevada Now would like to thank all Nevada teachers who go the distance for their students and who have dedicated their careers to developing our future generations.
ESA vouchers continue to be a hot topic throughout the entire nation, not just in Nevada. As the Silver State continues to consider jumping on the voucher bandwagon with one of the least accountable programs in the nation, SB 506, the country is watching and waiting.The team at ENN continues to fight back and work with partners across the state to keep Nevada’s private school voucher disaster from unfolding as it has across the nation.
Tuesday, April 11th there is a scheduled hearing with the Education Committee to begin at 3:30 p.m. on various topics including ZOOM schools, we encourage people to tune in, testify and help us support the students who need it most. Last week the Governor’s office introduced SB 506 a bill that would follow through on the Nevada ESA/Voucher program, right after Senator Majority Leader Aaron Ford declared Senator Scott Hammond’s almost identical bill SB 359 dead in the water.
