ENN testifies before the Senate Education Committee on AB 469, a bill designed to codify implementation details of the CCSD Reorganization. ENN agrees with the premise of the bill, but argues for important amendments to protect the rights of children in the district and to make student achievement a focus of the reorganization.
On October 6, 2016, ENN provides testimony before the NSBOE regarding an update on the lack of parental awareness around the CCSD reorganization, the need for open teacher elections, and reducing the high workload of associate superintendents.
On September 8, ENN provides testimony to the Legislative Commission regarding the proposed regulations of AB 394. ENN urges the Commission to carefully consider the effects on the most vulnerable children when implementing rushed regulations.
On August 27, 2016, ENN provides testimony before the NSBOE, highlighting several areas of concern in the regulations, such as ensuring parent participation at schools, inclusive participation of teachers, promoting strong leadership, and using actual salaries for budgeting purposes.
On August 22,2016, ENN provided testimony to the State Board detailing concerns with the reorganization regulations and implementation. Concerns included making sure that: qualified principals lead all district schools, special education funding is used properly, and parent participation in the process is adequate.
On August 15, 2016, ENN provided testimony on the civil rights implications of the CCSD reorganization regulations, parental engagement in the process, budgeting concerns, and other issues that affect children’s educational opportunities in the district.
